The RPO or Recruitment Process Outsourcing model started out as high-volume hiring at a fixed low cost.
Simple as that really, it was a way for companies to outsource their volume hiring requirements easily whilst controlling their costs with an external agency. It was arguably quite transactional, with more concentration on filling roles, quickly than creating a positive candidate experience, engagement and ensuring the company culture and values were integrated within the recruitment process.
Now over the years, the RPO model has evolved to allow the agencies to become more integrated with the companies they partner with. Utilizing their systems and tools to fill the high number of openings.
Although agencies that provide RPO services have continued to evolve their service offerings, and adapt to work closer with their clients, a variation of the RPO has since emerged…what we call the embedded model.
The Embedded Model:
Rather than the more hands-off, high-volume recruiting approach of the traditional RPO model, the embedded model is seen as a modern variation. The embedded model still focuses on high-level hiring on a monthly fee which you may think isn’t too different from an RPO…However, we have been pioneering the Troi embedded model for over 5 years now and this is how we differentiate ourselves from the traditional RPO model.
What makes the Troi embedded model a better choice:
- We place a senior technical recruiter within the company (either on-site, hybrid or fully remote) who fully integrates themselves into the company. Whether our recruiter is needed to provide support for the current talent team or establishing the groundworks and building out an entire hiring function if the resources are not there.
- Our recruiters come with technical knowledge of the candidate market, compensation packages, and where to source and attract incredible talent from. Each of our recruiters have an average of 8-10 years experience in internal and agency settings making them seasoned negotiators with proven track records of decreasing time to hire across multiple roles.
- We place candidate experience at the heart of what we do, ensuring diverse hiring is in place and working with companies to improve their end-to-end recruitment process, ensuring the company culture and brand is evident at every stage.
So, is there a difference between an RPO and Embedded model?
Short answer, not massive differences anymore. You’ll find most agencies that offer an RPO have started to offer these styles of hands-on services as well.
But…
Even though they have introduced these services, companies like Troi are the pioneers. So, we’ll leave you with this question:
Where would you rather take your car?
To the general mechanic with a broad knowledge that might have never worked on your model or to the company that built it with a dedicated service department.
