Securing a GRC Consultant role

Spirit AeroSystems is one of the world’s largest manufacturers of aerostructures for commercial airplanes, defence platforms, and business/regional jets.

Spirit Aerosystems had been trying to fill quite a tricky GRC Consultant role in a difficult & small market. The role was open for 12 months prior to us picking up the position. Our main point of contact at the Spirit, was known to us from previous relationships and they knew we had a strong network to utilise in this space.

The solution…

We sat down with the business to truly understand the technical nuances of the role. Adding to the complexity, the candidates needed to be able to go through a specific level of clearance, which for a Northern Ireland based role – made the pool even more difficult to navigate. We knew that this person would come through referrals and not direct sourcing and we knew they may be ex-military looking for a role in the Private Sector.

We targeted high ranking individuals (much more senior than the role we had) with an engaging message, individuals within military and central defence organisations and asked them to identify people they knew that could be interested and open to a chat.

The results…

Within a few days, we had 3 candidates interested and open to the position. We screened them and sent them to the client. 2 of 3 were brought to interview and the successful candidate accepted and started the role 2 months later (subject to their military exit).
