Building an agile and secured environment cross-functional digital team
A long standing client was looking to open up a new hub in the North of England (Manchester)
The challenge
The client didn’t have much presence in the North, particularly for this type of work within secured environments. We were asked to help them build the team. The team needed existing levels of security clearance with the ability to be cleared to the highest level (which involves extra screening processes and an adept understanding of how those levels of clearance work).
7 key hires including:
- 1 x SC Cleared Scrum Master
- 2 x SC Cleared Senior Software Engineer
- 2 x SC Cleared Mid-Level Software Engineer
- 1 x SC Cleared Data Scientist
- 1 x SC Cleared Data Engineer
All needed the ability and willingness to gain the highest level of security clearance.
The solution
After three discovery calls with the client, we built a slick interview process, identified the key hires we needed to make, and understood the deadlines for when we needed the people in place. We mapped out target clients in the location and identified 200 candidates across the 5 positions. We crafted targeted messaging, used X-ray search, and scraped old candidate information to acquire telephone numbers and proactively take the vacancies to market. We had the first candidates in for interviews within 7 days of the last discovery call with the client.
The results
We hired 2 Senior Software Engineers, 2 Mid-Level Software Engineers, a Senior Data Scientist, and a Data Engineer. We then hired a technical scrum master to help run the team. The final candidate we placed received their offer 33 days after the last discovery call. This project worked very well, as the client relinquished much of the process to us as we all had previous internal recruitment experience. Our knowledge allowed us to run the process smoothly and efficiently, only escalating to the client when absolutely necessary so they could focus efforts on other areas of their business.
